Day one – a good day

Well, last night’s post didn’t work. I think the video (now removed, sorry) was stopping it. So here it is now, and the good side is that now it includes the link for live tracking! Post below, read on to learn why you have to watch Orica GreenEDGE backstage pass…

It has been a pretty good day here in Napoli. I headed out in the morning to ride the course (one loop of it, it was a circuit course) and was happy to see that although there were a few sections closed off the access was generaly pretty good and I was waved through for the most part.

Finally, time to ride!

It is finally time for me to start riding the actual course, and not a minute too soon. After months of preparation, much of which fell through at the last minute, all that stood between me and the Giro on Thursday was one of the longest and most difficult train trips I have ever taken.

I’ve Been Robbed!

Yes, already. I have to admit to being surprised, and even a little disappointed. Dozens of people told me to be very careful because I would surely be robbed in Italy, and I believed them because the first time I came here I was robbed, but I did hope it would at least take a day.

It Begins…

And I’m off! I did the first riding of the trip today. I have to confess that for this ride I didn’t worry about the live tracking, since it was only from home to the train station. The rest of the ride will all be live though.  Actually I’m only just resisting the temaptation to turn on live-tracking now while I am on the train to Italy – it would make my average speed look much better

There were, of course, a few last minute problems that came up…
